About This Blog
My project for 2012 was to have an exhibition of street art in Nouvelle-Calédonie (New Caledonia) but at the end of last year one of the local photographers beat me to it and exhibited her work of street art at the Mairie. So, rather than just giving up on a subject that I am enjoying discovering and photographing I thought that a blog would be a way in which I can share my enthusiasm for the extensive amount of street art there is in Nouméa and throughout NewCal.
I also hope that I can show a side to NewCal that most visitors don't get to see and maybe even some residents are not aware of.
What is Street Art?
Street art can cover numourous types of visual arts in public spaces, 'in the streets' so to speak. Usually the term refers to unauthorised art but I will not be as strict in my definition and will be including any type of art that I find interesting. This could be a different style, an interesting topic/idea or just something that I have seen every day on my way to work or picking my children up from school that I like.
I hope you enjoy this blog and if you have seen any street art that you would like me to include please add a comment and let me know.

About Me
My name is Andy and I have lived in Nouméa with my family since 2009. We are here for three years and are due to leave at the end of this year (2012).
Another project I have for 2012 is to improve my French from an existing low base. Living in NewCal is difficult if you can't speak the lingo and my children are getting to an age where I need to learn more to know what they are saying about me. Maybe I will be able to blog in French by the end of the year.
Despite my lack of French I have been able to find employment and will be starting my second year at a bilingual school in March. I
have enjoyed working with the amazing children so much that I am looking at qualifing as a primary teacher over the next couple of years.
Outside family and work I enjoy photography and although I am a long way from being a professional I don't do too bad a job of it. I have previously exhibited a series of photos from my time living in Ghana, West Africa.
